IIT (ISM) Dhanbad teams win top prizes at Smart India Hackathon 2025

Dhanbad, Dec 17: Two teams from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad secured first-place titles at the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025, held at different venues across the country.

Team SkyNRG won at Laxmi Narain College of Technology (LNCT), Bhopal, while the second team claimed the top spot at Swami Narayan University, Ahmedabad.

Each team received a cash award of ₹1.5 lakh for their innovative solutions to the competition’s problem statements.

SkyNRG’s AI Solution for Livestock Management

Team SkyNRG, comprising Nancy Srivastava (team leader), Pathan Gulamgaush, Swasti Mishra, Sriyukthika, Rabia Basriya, and Kunal Verma, won with their AI-based solution titled “Image-Based Animal Type Classification for Cattle and Buffaloes” (Problem Statement ID: 25005).

The project supports scientific livestock evaluation and promotes better animal management practices, contributing to the objectives of the Rashtriya Gokul Mission.

Second Team’s Innovation in Crowd Management

The institute’s second winning team, led by Bhumi Bansal and including Jinay Jain, Gyan Prakash, Tushank Jain, Karan Kumar Khadria, and Gupta Rahul Kartaram, topped the national competition with “Skip The Queue” (Problem Statement ID: SIH25165).

Their solution focuses on intelligent crowd and queue management, aiming to enhance safety, operational efficiency, and visitor experience in public spaces and pilgrimage destinations.

An IIT (ISM) official stated that these consecutive national victories reflect the strong culture of problem-solving, technological innovation, and teamwork fostered at the institute.

The institute congratulated the students for their dedication and creativity, noting that their achievements have brought national recognition and pride to IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
