IIT ISM students organise ‘UMEED 2026’ to showcase school talent

 Dhanbad, January 11: Fast Forward India, a social organisation run by students of IIT ISM Dhanbad, organised ‘UMEED 2026’ on Sunday to provide a platform for school students to showcase their talent.

More than 10,000 students from 80 schools took part in various activities under a fixed programme. The event was organised under the institute’s Centre for Societal Missions (CSM).

Dhanbad Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar attended the programme as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the day-long event.

IIT ISM Leadership Present

Several senior officials of IIT ISM were present at the inaugural ceremony, including Director Prof. Sukumar Mishra, Deputy Director Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Dean Student Welfare Prof. Sunil Kumar Gupta, and CSM Head Prof. Sanjeev Anand Sahu.

The dignitaries praised the students’ performances and lauded the social initiatives of Fast Forward India, calling them inspiring and impactful.

Platform for Talent and Confidence Building

According to the organisers, UMEED 2026 aimed to provide students with an opportunity to display their talents, learn from peers, and build self-confidence through healthy competition. The programme also reflected IIT ISM’s commitment to social responsibility, community engagement, and inclusive education.

The day-long programme featured multiple competitions and activities held at different venues across the campus.

  • Nrityangana at Penman Auditorium
  • Dhwani at Management Hall Auditorium
  • Einstein Playground at Penman Quadrangle
  • Chitrahar, Resolved, and Mastermind at NLHC
  • Shay aur Maat at the Mechanical Engineering Department

Message of Hope and Opportunity

Participating students actively engaged in cultural, intellectual, and creative events, delivering commendable performances.

The organisers said UMEED 2026 conveyed a strong message of hope, opportunity, and self-belief, while reinforcing the institute’s social commitment. Fast Forward India expressed gratitude to the IIT ISM administration, faculty, staff, volunteers, and participating schools for making the event a success.
