PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Feb 2: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a shallow fog and mist alert for isolated places across Jharkhand during morning hours from February 2 to February 7.

According to the latest IMD weather assessment, shallow fog or mist is likely to prevail at isolated locations during the early morning hours. The weather is expected to turn partly cloudy to mainly clear later in the day.

From February 2 to 4, fog or mist may be seen in the mornings, followed by partly cloudy skies. On February 5, skies are expected to become mainly clear later in the day, and similar conditions are likely to continue on February 6 and 7.

Dry Weather to Continue

The IMD said dry weather is expected to prevail across Jharkhand throughout the forecast period, with no significant weather activity anticipated.

Meteorological conditions indicate a Western Disturbance in the form of a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and adjoining areas, extending between 3.1 km and 5.8 km above mean sea level.

An associated upper-air trough in the westerlies, with its axis at around 7.6 km above mean sea level along longitude 68°E to the north of latitude 30°N, is also persisting.

An induced cyclonic circulation, earlier over north Rajasthan, has now shifted to south Haryana and adjoining north Rajasthan, extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. Despite these systems, no major impact on Jharkhand’s weather is expected.

Temperature Update Across Jharkhand

Dry conditions prevailed across the state, with light fog or mist reported at isolated places. The highest maximum temperature of 29.8°C was recorded at Chaibasa (PT), while the lowest minimum temperature of 8.1°C was observed at Gumla (AWS).

According to meteorological statistics, Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of 11.4°C, Jamshedpur 14.4°C, and Daltonganj 9.1°C.

Weather Outlook

Overall, stable weather conditions with mild winter mornings and dry days are expected to continue across Jharkhand in the coming days.
