New Delhi, Sept 25: India on Thursday named a full-strength 15-member squad for the upcoming two-Test home series against the West Indies, beginning October 2 in Ahmedabad. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed that Shubman Gill will lead the side, with Ravindra Jadeja appointed as vice-captain.
Contrary to earlier speculation of Gill being rested after the Asia Cup T20I campaign, the selectors retained him, alongside senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah, as part of India’s World Test Championship push. Rishabh Pant, meanwhile, remains unavailable as he continues rehabilitation from a foot injury.

Karun Nair, who was tipped as a possible middle-order option, has been left out.

The squad features a blend of experience and emerging talent. Batting options include Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, and N Jagadeesan, while Dhruv Jurel will take wicketkeeping duties. All-round depth comes from Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
Among the bowlers, Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav return, while Prasidh Krishna—despite suffering a head injury in India A’s recent clash against Australia A—has been cleared for inclusion after his promising run in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
