Bangkok, August 12: Ritika’s triumph in the women’s 80+ kg final brought a golden end to India’s campaign at the Asian U19 & U22 Boxing Championships 2025 in Bangkok, where the combined tally across both age groups reached 27 medals.
The 10-day event saw 40 Indian pugilists—20 each in U19 and U22—compete against some of the continent’s strongest challengers.
The U19 squad emerged as the most decorated team with 14 medals, including three golds, but had to settle for second place overall, trailing Uzbekistan on gold count, which claimed seven golds. India U19’s medal haul also featured seven silvers and four bronzes.

In contrast, the U22 contingent secured 13 medals—one gold, four silvers, and eight bronzes—finishing fourth in their category. Ritika stood out as the sole U22 gold medallist, defeating Kazakhstan’s Assel Toktassyn.
Several Indian boxers came close to the top of the podium but finished with silver. Yatri Patel lost the women’s 57 kg final to Uzbekistan’s Khumorabonu Mamajonova, while Priya narrowly missed gold in the 60 kg bout against China’s Yu Tian, losing 3-2.
In the men’s events, Neeraj (75 kg) was beaten by Shavkatjon Boltaev of Uzbekistan, and Ishan Kataria (90+ kg) fell to Khalimjon Mamasoliev, also of Uzbekistan.
The bronze medal winners in the U22 category included Bhawna (48 kg), Parthavi (65 kg), Pranjal (70 kg), Shruti (75 kg), Harsh (60 kg), Ankush (80 kg), Rockey (85 kg), and Mayur (90 kg).

In the U19 competition, golds went to Nisha (54 kg), Muskan (57 kg), and Rahul (75 kg). Silvers were earned by Vini (60 kg), Nisha (65 kg), Aarti (75 kg), Kritika (80 kg), Prachi (80+ kg), Mausam (65 kg), and Hemant (90 kg). The bronze medallists were Yakshika (51 kg), Akansha (70 kg), Shivam (55 kg), and Gaurav (85 kg).
Earlier in the year, India’s U15 and U17 boxers had bagged a combined 43 medals at the Asian Championships, with the U15 squad delivering an unmatched 11 golds—the highest in the tournament.
