New Delhi: As artificial intelligence drives unprecedented growth in the technology sector, Indian-origin executive Jayshree Ullal, president and chief executive officer of Arista Networks, has emerged as the highest-ranked Indian-origin woman on the 2026 Forbes America’s Richest Self-Made Women list.

Forbes estimates Ullal’s net worth at $6.8 billion, placing her at No. 7 on the prestigious ranking and among the most influential leaders in the global technology industry. Her wealth is largely linked to Arista Networks, the cloud networking company she has led since 2008.

From New Delhi to Silicon Valley

Born in London and raised in New Delhi, Ullal developed an early interest in technology and engineering. She later moved to the United States, earning a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from San Francisco State University and a master’s degree in engineering management from Santa Clara University.

Armed with a strong technical background, she began her career in the technology sector and steadily rose through the ranks of Silicon Valley.

Career at Top Technology Firms

Before joining Arista Networks, Ullal worked at semiconductor companies Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Fairchild Semiconductor. She later spent 15 years at Cisco Systems, where she played a key role in the company’s networking business during a period of rapid internet expansion.

Her experience at Cisco positioned her at the forefront of enterprise networking and digital transformation.

The Gamble That Paid Off

In 2008, Ullal left Cisco to lead Arista Networks, then a startup with fewer than 50 employees and no revenue.

At a time when established networking giants dominated the industry, she bet on the future of cloud computing and data centres. The decision proved transformative.

Under her leadership, Arista focused on high-performance networking solutions for large-scale cloud environments and hyperscale data centres. The company went public in 2014, marking a major milestone in its growth journey.

Powering the AI and Cloud Boom

Today, Arista Networks is a key player in cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence ecosystems worldwide.

According to Forbes, the company generated approximately $9 billion in revenue in 2024, representing nearly 30 per cent growth over the previous year.

Ullal’s fortune stems largely from her stake in Arista Networks, where Forbes estimates she owns about 3 per cent of the company’s stock. She also serves on the board of the cloud computing company Snowflake.

Among America’s Richest Self-Made Women

Forbes estimates Ullal’s real-time net worth at around $6.5 billion, while her wealth for the 2026 America’s Richest Self-Made Women ranking stands at $6.8 billion.

Her rise from a young engineering student raised in New Delhi to one of the world’s wealthiest self-made women underscores her influence in shaping the cloud computing and AI infrastructure revolution.
