Indian women’s cricket team enters final of Asia Cup after beating Bangladesh

Dambulla, July 26: With a convincing 10-wicket victory over Bangladesh on Friday, India secured its place in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 final.

India has reached the final for the ninth time in the tournament after thoroughly dominating Bangladesh in every aspect of the game at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.

Indian pacer Renuka Thakur Singh was the Player of the Match for her three-wicket haul in which she dismissed the top three Bangladesh players. She gave just 10 runs and took 3 wickets in her quota of four overs.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat. However, they were under pressure from the very start and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They managed to score 80 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs.

Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana was their top run scorer with 32 runs from 51 balls. Apart from Renuka, other Indian bowlers also bowled really tight and well with Radha Yadav taking 3 wickets and Deepti and Vastrakar got one wicket each.

India had no issues while chasing and cruised to the total in 11 overs without losing any wicket. Smriti was unbeaten on 55 runs from 39 balls while Shafali remained not out on 26 runs from 28 balls.
