Jamshedpur Nightclub Murder: Bistupur SHO suspended, DD Club sealed

Jamshedpur, June 30: The district administration and police have intensified their crackdown following the murder of Himanshu Singh after a violent attack outside Double Down (DD) Club in Bistupur, suspending the Officer-in-Charge (SHO) of Bistupur police station and sealing the nightclub.

The action comes amid mounting public outrage over the incident, with the authorities signalling a zero-tolerance approach towards lapses in policing and violations of regulatory norms.

Bistupur SHO suspended

In a major administrative move, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) suspended the Officer-in-Charge of Bistupur police station with immediate effect after fixing accountability for alleged lapses in maintaining law and order during the incident.

Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Ranjan has ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the incident. The investigation will examine the bar’s licence, operational practices, security arrangements, CCTV footage, the role of its employees, and compliance with excise and administrative regulations.

Officials said further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.

Government assures justice

As public anger intensified following Himanshu Singh’s death during treatment, the Jharkhand government stepped in to monitor the situation.

Former MLA Kunal Sarangi visited the bereaved family as the government’s representative. During the visit, family members also spoke to the Chief Minister and the Director General of Police (DGP) over the phone.

The government assured the family of a fair investigation, swift action against those responsible, and all possible assistance in securing justice.

Police teams are continuing raids to arrest all those involved in the attack.

Officials maintained that no accused would be spared and that the investigation would proceed strictly on the basis of evidence.

The incident has raised serious concerns over safety, policing and security arrangements at nightlife establishments in Jamshedpur, with the latest administrative actions seen as an effort to restore public confidence and ensure accountability.
