Jamshedpur, September 1: Jamshedpur Police on Tuesday strengthened its mobile policing network with the induction of 40 new Bolero vehicles, aimed at improving patrolling, reducing emergency response time and increasing police visibility across the district.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ehtesham Waqarib flagged off the 40 vehicles at the Police Line in Golmuri on Tuesday evening. The vehicles were subsequently deployed for patrolling and other security-related duties in different police station areas.
Focus on faster response and wider police presence
According to police officials, the vehicles will be allotted on the basis of the requirements of individual police stations and field units. The additional mobility is expected to help police teams reach crime scenes and emergency locations more quickly.
The vehicles will also enable police personnel to maintain regular patrols in areas where limited transport availability has previously affected field mobility. Officials said the deployment would strengthen police presence not only in urban areas but also along highways, peripheral locations and remote pockets of the district.
Highway patrol, women’s safety among priorities
The new Boleros will be used for more than routine police station duties. They are expected to support highway patrolling, crime prevention, women’s safety, emergency response and night patrols.
Increased vehicle availability will allow police stations to maintain dedicated patrol teams while responding simultaneously to emergencies and other law-and-order requirements.
Police officials said enhanced patrolling along highways and major roads would also help monitor vulnerable stretches and deter criminal activities. Faster movement of police teams is expected to be particularly important during night hours and in areas where reaching an incident spot can otherwise take considerable time.
SSP stresses maintenance, alertness
Before flagging off the vehicles, SSP Ehtesham Waqarib inspected the fleet and interacted with the personnel who will operate them. He issued instructions regarding proper maintenance of the vehicles and emphasised alertness among police teams while on duty.
The SSP directed drivers and police personnel to ensure that the vehicles remain operational and are used effectively for field policing. He also stressed that public safety and prompt response to emergency calls should remain the priority.
Police personnel were instructed to act swiftly whenever information about a crime, accident, law-and-order situation or other emergency is received.
Push for stronger mobile policing
The induction of the 40 Boleros comes as part of efforts to improve the operational mobility of Jamshedpur Police. With more vehicles available at the police station and field level, officials expect patrol coverage to increase and response times to improve.
The move is also expected to strengthen police accessibility in both urban and rural areas of the district, while providing additional logistical support for crime prevention and law-and-order duties.
Police officials said the expanded fleet would help create a more visible and responsive policing system, with regular patrols serving both as a deterrent to criminals and as a reassurance to residents.
The deployment of the vehicles is expected to give a fresh boost to Jamshedpur police patrolling, particularly in areas requiring greater police visibility, highway surveillance and quicker emergency intervention.
