Jamshedpur, Feb 14: Ananya Mittal took charge as the new deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum on Wednesday.

Mittal, a 2015 batch IAS officer, was appointed as the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner following the transfer of the erstwhile DC, Manjunath Bhajantri.

While assuming the new responsibility, Mittal said he would ensure that both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are held successfully and without any hitch here in the district.

Free and fair elections

“Apart from holding the Lok Sabha elections and Assembly elections scheduled to be held back-to-back in a free and fair way, I would also ensure that all the public welfare schemes by the state government as well as central government are implemented properly here,” said the new DC which talking to newsmen.

Bhajantri debarred from election-related work

The outgoing DC, Manjunath Bhajantri, has been debarred from performing any election-related work by the Election Commission. As a result of the restrictions, the spadework for ensuing elections was being affected.

Given the impending situation arising out of the restrictions imposed by the Election Commission on Bhajantri, Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar was doing all the works necessary related to preparations for the elections.

It may be mentioned here that Bhajantri had been kept away from the election work during the Madhupur bye-election earlier when he was the deputy commissioner of Godda district.

Manjunath Bhajantri has now been posted as the administrator of Subarnarekha Project.
