Ranchi, Oct. 17: Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar today said that nominations for the first phase of assembly elections will start from October 18. The last date for nomination is October 25. Nominations will be done from 11 am to 3 pm. Nominations will not be done on holidays.

He said that all the candidates will ensure compliance with the Election Commission guidelines during nomination. During this time, only three vehicles will be allowed to enter within a radius of 100 meters of the nomination site. Only four people will be able to go to the nomination room with a candidate. A proposal of 10 people will be mandatory for the nomination of a candidate.

Every general candidate will have to deposit Rs 10,000 as a security deposit. Whereas for Scheduled Caste/Tribe this amount will be five thousand rupees. Every candidate will have to fill out Form 26 as an affidavit.

Addressing a press conference, the CEO said candidates will have to advertise information related to their criminal cases in at least three newspapers. It will also have to be displayed on their social media accounts.

He said that every candidate should open a separate bank account for the details of election expenses.

Two-day art festival

He said that a two-day art festival related to the assembly elections is starting on Friday at Jaipal Singh Stadium. It will be inaugurated on Friday at 11 am. In the festival, 81 famous artists will exhibit their art on cultural concerns related to 81 assembly constituencies of Jharkhand. Many types of cultural activities will also be held on this occasion.

On this occasion, the chief electoral officer invited all the voters and appealed to come with their families.

Rs 37 lakhs worth illegal goods, cash seized

He said that since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, a total of 37 lakh rupees worth of illegal goods and cash have been seized.

The chief electoral officer along with Joint Chief Electoral Officer Subodh Kumar and Deputy Director, Public Relations, Anand were present at the press conference.
