Jamshedpur, October 6: Jharkhand’s automobile retail market maintained its growth momentum in September, with total vehicle registrations rising 7.9 per cent year-on-year to 49,584 units, up from 45,954 units in the same month last year, according to data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).
Growth was broad-based, with commercial vehicles, three-wheelers and passenger vehicles registering strong gains. The biggest highlight, however, was the rapid expansion of electric mobility, with EV registrations jumping 60.1 per cent during the month.
Commercial vehicle registrations emerged as the fastest-growing major segment, rising 49.66 per cent to 1,763 units from 1,178 units in September 2025.
Three-wheelers also posted strong growth of 28.94 per cent, with registrations increasing to 3,872 units from 3,003 units.
Passenger vehicles continued their upward trend, with registrations rising 8.89 per cent to 5,901 units from 5,419 units a year ago.
The two-wheeler segment remained the largest contributor to Jharkhand’s automobile retail market. Registrations grew 4.95 per cent to 36,712 units from 34,981 units in September 2025.
Wheeled construction equipment registrations rose 45.78 per cent year-on-year to 121 units from 83 units, pointing to continued activity in the construction and infrastructure sectors.
Tractor registrations, however, declined 5.81 per cent to 1,215 units from 1,290 units.
EV Registrations Jump 60%
Electric mobility recorded the sharpest growth among major trends in Jharkhand’s automobile market.
EV registrations surged 60.1 per cent year-on-year to 4,974 units, accounting for around 10 per cent of total vehicle registrations in September.
The increase points to growing consumer acceptance of electric vehicles and newer mobility solutions in the state.
Petrol and ethanol-powered vehicles continued to dominate, accounting for 76.9 per cent of total registrations, or 38,108 units.
Diesel vehicles remained the second-largest non-EV fuel category, with an 8.9 per cent market share and 14.5 per cent year-on-year growth.
FADA Sees Positive Market Momentum
FADA Jharkhand State Chairperson Krishna Bhalotia said the state’s automobile retail market delivered a positive performance in September, with growth spread across several key categories.
“Jharkhand’s automobile retail market has shown a positive performance in September, with overall retail growing by 7.9 per cent year-on-year. The growth has been broad-based, with particularly strong momentum in Commercial Vehicles and Three-Wheelers, while Passenger Vehicles also continued to grow steadily,” Bhalotia said.
He said two-wheelers remained the largest contributor to the state’s automobile retail market, while the strong performance of commercial vehicles and three-wheelers reflected healthy economic and business activity across Jharkhand.
With the festive season underway, FADA said it remained cautiously optimistic about consumer sentiment and automobile retail demand in the coming months.
