THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Ranchi, February 8: Senior BJP leader, former Union Minister and MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy on Sunday said that Jharkhand has achieved a major milestone by becoming a 100 percent railway-electrified state, marking a new era of infrastructure development. Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office in Ranchi, he said the Union Budget 2026–27 has given unprecedented priority to the railway sector, which will play a key role in accelerating Jharkhand’s economic growth.

He described the budget as one that lays a strong foundation for a self-reliant and developed India, while ensuring that states like Jharkhand benefit from improved connectivity, investment, and employment opportunities.

Rudy described the Union Budget 2026–27 as a budget that provides a strong foundation for the vision of a self-reliant and developed India.

He said the budget would give fresh momentum to development in Jharkhand from 2026–27 onwards.

He said the budget, presented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reflects a clear vision of reforms, decisive governance, and public welfare, and will bring states like Jharkhand rapidly into the mainstream of development.

Higher Tax Devolution and Capital Assistance for Jharkhand

MP Rudy said that in the financial year 2026–27, Jharkhand is set to receive ₹51,236 crore as tax devolution. He added that since 2014, the state has received more than ₹3.14 lakh crore in tax devolution, along with ₹1.04 lakh crore in grants during 2014–26, which he said demonstrates the Centre’s commitment to cooperative federalism.

Referring to the Special Capital Assistance Scheme, he informed that Jharkhand has received ₹11,567 crore as 50-year interest-free loan assistance between 2020–21 and January 2026, accelerating development in roads, irrigation, urban infrastructure, and industrial projects.

Rail, Road, Air Connectivity Boosting Growth

Highlighting major infrastructure reforms, MP Rudy said Jharkhand has become the first state with 100 percent railway electrification. He said railway budget allocation for the state has increased from an average of ₹457 crore in 2009–14 to ₹7,302 crore in 2024–25.

He added that 57 railway stations in Jharkhand are being developed as Amrit Stations, and seven Vande Bharat Express trains, including Ranchi–Patna and Ranchi–Varanasi, are now operational.

MP Rudy also cited the launch of airports at Deoghar and Jamshedpur, the Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata Greenfield Corridor, construction of over 3,600 km of national highways, and road projects worth more than ₹30,000 crore as factors transforming the state’s economic landscape.

Focus on Tribal Welfare and Social Infrastructure

Emphasizing tribal development, MP Rudy said initiatives such as the Dharti Aaba Tribal Village Upliftment Campaign, Eklavya Model Residential Schools, PM-JANMAN Yojana, and other multi-sectoral projects are strengthening education, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities in tribal areas.

He also noted the progress of Deoghar AIIMS, new medical colleges, Kendriya Vidyalayas, and tribal welfare schemes, which are gaining momentum under the current budget framework.

Jharkhand a Strong Partner in Developed India Vision

Concluding his address, MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the Union Budget 2026–27 provides Jharkhand not only with financial resources but also with long-term opportunities, dignity, and a clear direction for sustainable growth, making the state a strong partner in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.

Media In-charge Shivpujan Pathak, Economic Cell Convener JP Sharma, and Co-Media In-charge Ashok Baraik were also present at the press conference.
