Dhanbad, Feb 24: BIT Sindri alumnus Dr Subodha Kumar has been elected president of Maryland, USA-based international organization Production and Operation Management Society (POMS).

Dr Subodha Kumar is a 1990-94 batch chemical engineering department student of BIT Sindri. He completed his M.Tech from IIT Kanpur and PhD from the University of Texas, Dallas, United States of America.

POMS is an international professional organization representing the interests of POM professionals from around the world. The aims of the Society are to extend and integrate knowledge that contributes to the improved understanding and practice of production and operations management (POM).

Dr Subodha Kumar, professor of Fox School of Business, Temple University, USA, is also deputy editor of PMO journal.

BIT Sindri faculties, alumni congratulate Dr Subodha Kumar

BIT Sindri senior faculty members authorities and office bearers of the Alumni Association have congratulated Dr Subodha Kumar for his election to the top post of an international organization and said that all stakeholders of the institution (BIT Sindri) feel proud of him.

“As an alumnus of BIT Sindri, Dr. Kumar has made us immensely proud with his invaluable contributions to the Fox School of Business. His elevation to such a prestigious role speaks volumes about his expertise and leadership capabilities”, said Dr Ghanshyam, senior faculty member and chairman of BIT Sindri Career Development Centre (CDC).

BIT Sindri director Dr Pankaj Rai, Dr Jitu Kujur, Dr BD Yadav, Dr Prakash Kumar, Dr Rajiv  Verma, Dr Vinit Shekhar and other senior members of different faculty also congratulated him.

BIT Sindri Alumni Association president  Amit Roy, vice-president  Umesh Prasad Sah, secretary Sweta Kumari, joint secretary Kishor Yadav and Pawan Ojha, treasurer Rajendra Murmu, executive members Binod Tulshyan, SS Garuyar, Lokesh Sahu have also hailed the elevation of Dr Subodh Kumar and congratulated him.

One-year term as president

Dr Ghanshyam said that his election as president-elect of POMS is a testament to his longstanding commitment to the field and his invaluable contributions to the society and its flagship journal.

“Dr Kumar’s term as president will be one year and three years on the board as past president. These positions of leadership will undoubtedly provide him with a platform to drive impactful change, foster innovation, and shape the future of production and operations management,” said Dr Ghanshyam.
