Ranchi, April 27: Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar has asked the divisional commissioner to probe the ruling JMM’s construction of a helicopter parking lot in Khelgaon.
The CEO’s order came in response to a memorandum submitted by the BJP.
Reasons for BJP protests
The BJP has protested against helicopter parking at Khelgaon when there is already an airport in Ranchi. “So, why was there a need for alternative parking for helicopters meant for electioneering? Also, how much money the JMM was paying for parking its choppers meant for electioneering?” it asked.
Earlier, a BJP delegation protesting against the construction of helicopter parking by the JMM in Khelgaon submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer.
The delegation included State Convener of Law Cell Sudhir Srivastava, Deputy Head of Judicial Affairs Prakash Jha, and Advocate Shiv Kumar Sharma.
Sudhir Srivastava asked on whose orders the JMM had parked the helicopter at Khelgaon, how many times it had flown, and what it had done.
BJP alleges movement of election money
“There is also a possibility of moving a huge amount of election money by helicopter. How much money is JMM paying for parking, and to whom is it all a matter of investigation,” the BJP said in its memorandum.
No CISF deputation at Khelgaon
The BJP alleged that due to helicopter parking in Khelgaon, JMM leaders are flying directly without any security check. “There is no CISF deputation there to check the person going.
Determining which officials are involved in the whole matter is also necessary,” the BJP said.
