Ranchi, May 7: Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar today directed the polling personnel to hand over the voter information slip to every electorate. “Any laxity on this work will invite punitive action,” he warned.

CEO inspects two booths in Bundu

He expressed his displeasure after he inspected two polling stations in the Bundu block area of Ranchi district on Tuesday and found that his instructions to increase the voting percentage in the booths with low turnout were not being seriously followed.

He inspected polling station number 69 of Government Primary School Block Colony of Bundu and polling station number 72 of Rajendra Ashram Girls Middle School.

Distribution of voter guides

He investigated the work of distribution of voter information slips, distribution of voter guides and updating of the Absent, Shift, Death (ASD) list by BLOs to increase the voting percentage.

The chief electoral officer said that if any voter complains of difficulty in exercising his franchise due to the negligence of the concerned officer, strict action will be taken.

“To ensure that all the election-related work is completed on time, a calendar is fixed for all the districts. All those who have responsibilities have to be completed within the stipulated time,” he said.

He also reviewed the list of volunteers to be appointed to assist voters and the list of polling station awareness groups and directed them to complete it.
