Jharkhand Chess team departs for National Championship in Pune

Dhanbad, Dec 27: A team of 11 boys and girls from Jharkhand has departed for Pune to participate in the 37th National Boys and Girls Chess Championship. The tournament, organised by the Maharashtra Chess Association, will take place at the Boxing Hall, Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Pune, from December 27 to January 2.

According to a senior official of the Jharkhand State Chess Association (JSCA), four players—Abhigyan Singh, Rudrani Roy, Anishka, and Naira Aditya—are officially representing Jharkhand as members of the state squad.

In addition to the official players, seven others have secured donor entries to compete in the tournament. These players include Rishi Raj (Ranchi); Vivaan Basak and Adrij Mohanty (both from Jamshedpur); Akshit Ramesh Gholap and Digant Ramesh Gholap (both from Chatra district); and Soujanya Subhashni Pal and Zaqira Ahmad (both from Jamshedpur).

Sweeta Aditya from Jamshedpur has been appointed as the manager for the Jharkhand team during the championship.

This prestigious national event has attracted a total of 364 boys and 206 girls from across the country, promising intense competition among the participants.
