Dhanbad, Aug 1: The West Singhbhum District Chess Association (WSDCA), on the occasion of Independence Day, will hold the inter-school chess championship at SR Rungta Recreation Hall, Chaibasa to promote the budding talent of the region.
Giving this information, WSDCA general secretary Basant Khandelwal said that the championship will be held for four age groups students including under-7, under-9, under -11 and 13.

Last date of entry is August 13
The last date of entry in the championship is August 13. Thereafter no entry would be entertained. Students up to class X will be allowed to play.
Khandelwal said the championship would be of 7 rounds ( each round of 10 minutes 5 seconds). Four top players in each age group would be given prizes along with a glittering trophy. Khandelwal, who is himself a FIDE-rated player, said that this type of championship will provide exposure to players and a platform to excel before the state tournament.
He said interested school players can contact Purushottam Saraf, Arpit Khirwal, Manish Sharma, and Suraj Tiu for entry.
