Ranchi, Jan 10: Chief Minister Hemant Soren emphasised the vast potential for tourism in Jharkhand, announcing that the state government is working on a strategic plan to develop Topchanchi Lake in the Dhanbad district into an attractive tourist destination. Beautifying Topchanchi Lake in harmony with the environment and showcasing it as a premier tourist spot is a priority for the government, he added.
The Chief Minister highlighted Jharkhand’s natural beauty, with its forests, hills, and rivers, and stated that special efforts are underway to enhance tourism in the state. These initiatives aim to introduce the country’s and the world’s people to the unique charm of Jharkhand. He urged the Tourism, Forest, and Urban Development Departments to work collaboratively and with dedication to promote tourism, envisioning Jharkhand as a key tourism hub soon.
Boosting Employment Through Tourism
During a meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence on Kanke Road in Ranchi, officials presented a detailed action plan for the development of Topchanchi Lake as a tourist destination. The presentation, delivered in a PowerPoint format, covered all aspects of the project. Chief Minister Soren reviewed the plan in detail, asked specific questions, and provided several important suggestions and instructions.

One of the Chief Minister’s key directives was to ensure that the local community benefits directly from the project, with employment opportunities being a top priority. Officials assured him that the development of Topchanchi Lake would generate both direct and indirect employment opportunities for residents.
Key Attractions Planned
The plan includes developing 33 acres of land around Topchanchi Lake into a vibrant tourist hub. Some of the proposed attractions include:
- Resorts
- Activity Parks
- Central and Nature Parks
- Motor Sports Park
- Music Park
- Food Plazas and Cafeterias
- Boating Facilities
- Go-Karting Tracks
These facilities aim to draw tourists from across the country and abroad, making Topchanchi Lake a lively and dynamic destination.
Key Attendees
The meeting was attended by several key officials, including Tourism Minister Sudhivya Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Avinash Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department Sunil Kumar, Tourism Director Anjali Yadav, and representatives from the consulting agency Samarth Infratech Services Pvt. Ltd., such as Titus Ninan, Rohit Kaushik, and Saket Chauhan.
