Jharkhand DGP reviews Jamshedpur crime, directs swift arrests in bank robbery, firing cases

Jamshedpur, Oct 1: Jharkhand Director General of Police Tadasha Mishra on Thursday reviewed the crime and law-and-order situation in East Singhbhum and adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district, directing senior police officers to ensure the swift arrest of those accused in recent high-profile cases.

Mishra arrived in Jamshedpur on Thursday and held a high-level meeting with senior police officers from East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan at the residence of East Singhbhum SSP Ehtehsam Waqarib in CH Area, Bistupur.

The meeting focused on the prevailing law-and-order situation, recent criminal incidents and the progress of investigations into major cases.

DGP reviews Canara Bank robbery, Marine Drive firing

The DGP is learnt to have sought a detailed briefing on the police action and investigation into the Canara Bank robbery case and the Marine Drive restaurant firing incident, both of which have raised concern in Jamshedpur.

She sought updates on the investigations, leads developed so far and the efforts being made by police teams to identify and apprehend the accused.

Mishra directed the officers to intensify investigations and ensure that those involved in the two cases are arrested at the earliest. She also stressed the need for coordinated and effective action against criminals and close monitoring of investigations into sensitive and high-profile cases.

Focus on preventive policing and law and order

The review meeting comes against the backdrop of a series of criminal incidents reported in and around Jamshedpur in recent weeks.

The DGP reportedly sought details of the police response to such incidents and reviewed measures being taken to strengthen preventive policing and maintain law and order.

Senior officers from East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan briefed Mishra on the crime situation in their respective jurisdictions, ongoing investigations and operational measures being taken to check criminal activities.

Marine Drive firing, bank robbery under scrutiny

The Marine Drive firing case had drawn attention after armed assailants allegedly opened fire at a restaurant, while the Canara Bank robbery has emerged as another major challenge for investigators.

Mishra directed the police leadership to accord priority to the investigations and ensure that the accused are arrested without delay.

She also emphasised the need for stronger coordination among different police units and close supervision of investigations so that crucial leads are followed up promptly.

The meeting was attended by senior police officials from East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan, who apprised the DGP of the latest developments in major cases and the law-and-order situation in their respective jurisdictions.
