Dhanbad, Nov 18: Dhanbad physician Dr Ajay Patwari was felicitated and awarded by the Research Society for Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI) in Mumbai on Friday evening for his outstanding work in the field of diabetes awareness programmes.
RSSDI national outgoing president Dr BM Makkar, elected president (2023-24) Dr Rakesh Sahay and secretary Dr Sanjay Agrawal jointly felicitated and presented the award to Dr Ajay Patwari in Mumbai during the four-day national convention of RSSDI. (November 16 to 19).
The RSSDI national body felicitates five to seven physicians every year in the country for exemplary work in the diabetes control programme. In the ongoing four-day annual conference of RSSDI in Mumbai Dr NK Singh (national executive member) is also participating.

Dr Ajay Patwari, who has three years’ experience working in MV Hospital for Diabetes Chennai (WHO centre) and one year in Apollo Hospital Chennai, has been curing and awakening people against diabetes since 2008.
Dr Patwari has been nominated as the organizing secretary of the RSSDI Jharkhand chapter state conference to be held in January.
He has focused his campaign in remote areas of Dhanbad, Bokaro, Giridih, Jamtara districts and Asansol of Bengal.
“Felicitation and award to Dr Patwari is a matter of pride for Dhanbad and Jharkhand. It keeps significance because the contribution of a physician from Dhanbad has been recognized at the national level,” said a senior physician of Ranchi.
Dr Patwari while talking from Mumbai said that this national award and felicitation has encouraged him to work more for the awareness of people against diabetes. “We carry out the ‘Asha ‘ programme along with the Rotary Club, Lions Club and District Chamber of Commerce Association to keep people alert from the silent killer (diabetes),” said Dr Patwari.
Dr Patwari runs Jharkhand Diabetes and Eye Centre in Dhanbad where he along with his wife Dr Seema Patwari (ophthalmologist) holds counselling of patients’ attendants about diabetes danger.
