Dhanbad, Nov 27: DIG (registration) of Jharkhand Sweta Kumari (a 1990 batch student) was unanimously elected as the new secretary of Birsa Institute of Technology (BIT) Sindri Alumni Association for 2023-25 sessions.

Amit Roy retained as president

Amit Roy (1984 batch) of Jamshedpur was retained as president while Umesh Prasad Sah (1987 batch) of Ranchi was elected as the new vice-president.

The new office-bearers were elected after the conclusion of the Global Annual Meet of BIT Sindri on Sunday.
Umesh Prasad Sah, general manager, of BSNL Ranchi, was the secretary in the previous committee.

More than 200 former students of the institution living in different parts of the country and abroad participated in this one-day meeting.

Kishor Yadav (1987 batch) and Pawan Ojha (1989 batch) were re-elected joint secretaries in the 2023-25 committee while Rajendra Murmu (1994 batch) remained in the post of treasurer.

Besides them, three executive members, Binodji Tulsyan, SS Garuryar, and Sri Lokesh Sahu were elected executive members.

Sweta Kumari’s priorities

Rolling out her priority after being elected new secretary of  BIT Sindri Alumni Association, Sweta Kumari (a 1990 batch electronic engineering department student) said that at present the new body has focused on making the Platinum Jubilee Celebration of the institution (BIT Aindri) a grand success.  “More executive members would be included in the committee soon,” she added.

“The new body has also underlined priority on connecting the members living in the country and abroad. Besides, it would also try to remove deficiencies the institution (BIT Sindri) is facing and provide facilities on the campus as much as possible,” she said.

Sweta Kumari said the Alumni Association would extend full support to the management in the development of the institution. “I can say if the management moves one step in development, the Alumni Association would go two steps in giving it support,” she said.
