Ranchi, April 25: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) today announced Kalpana Soren as the Gandey Vidhan Sabha by-election candidate.
Kalpana Soren will file her nomination from Gandey on April 29 and the voting will take place on May 20.
Notably, the Gandey seat in Giridih district became vacant after the resignation of JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmad.
On December 31, the Assembly Secretariat issued an order stating that MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed’s resignation had been accepted.
This seat has been vacant since December 31, 2023.

JMM names Sammer Mohanty from Jamshedpur LS seat
Meanwhile, the JMM has chosen Baharagora MLA Sameer Mohanty to contest against BJP’s Bidyut Baran Mahto in Jamshedpur for the Lok Sabha polls.
In this way, the INDI Alliance has now announced candidates for all the 14 seats in Jharkhand.
Several persons, including JMM General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya were in the race to get the ticket from Jamshedpur.
Mahto will file nomination on April 30
BJP candidate from Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat and sitting MP Bidyut Baran Mahto will file his nomination on April 30.
Before the nomination, the BJP will hold a general meeting at Sakchi Bodhi Temple from 11 a.m., in which BJP state president Babulal Marandi, Union Minister Arjun Munda, and many stalwarts will participate.
