Dhanbad, April 8: Baghmara MLA and BJP Dhanbad Lok Sabha candidate Dhulu Mahto has sent a legal notice to Jamshedpur (East) MLA Saryu Roy for levelling false and fabricated allegations against him in a press conference.
In the legal notice served to Saryu Roy by Dhulu Mahto’s lawyer, Niraj Kumar Bishiar said that “You (Roy) have, in a live press conference on Facebook, noted that almost 50 criminal cases are pending in different courts against three times Baghmara MLA, which is factually wrong without any base and foundation. If it is true then why did you not disclose the case number.”
What does the notice allege?
The notice has asked Saryu Roy to either make a public apology in favour of Dhulu Mahto or recall defamatory words used in a live press conference on Facebook. Otherwise, MLA Dhulu Mahto would have no option but to file a defamatory Suit against him (Roy) in a competent court of law.
The notice has charged that in the same press conference, Saryu Roy said Dhulu Mahto committed ‘Gunda Gardi’ in the locality without any tangible evidence, a derogatory remark against the MLA. It was done intentionally to malign his social and political reputation.
The notice said, in the press conference MLA Roy also alleged that Dhulu Mahto is indulged in the coal extortion business, which is far from reality.

“Your entire press conference is a reflection of defamation of the social, political and intellectual career of my client, which he earned from a long struggle by serving downtrodden people of the society,” said the notice.
The notice also charged that MLA Roy chose un-parliamentary and derogatory words at a press conference, causing hurtful feelings for MLA Dhulu Mahto’s family and the entire backward community in the locality.
Moreover, the notice has charged that the press conference was only designed to harm the public reputation and imputation of the political career of Dhulu Mahto in Dhanbad.
Saryu Roy dares Dhulu Mahto to go to court
MLA Saryu Roy returned after getting the legal notice and asked Dhulu Mahto to go to court and file a defamatory case against him.
“I have got a legal notice of Dhulu Mahto, which is a low standard and does not require a reply. I dump such low-standard notices in the dustbin. Dhulu Mahto is free to knock on the court door and file a defamatory case against me”, said the Jamshedpur MLA.
Roy said the legal notice was a political move to divert the public attention from his criminal cases. I will not let him succeed in this nefarious design and will expose him”, said Roy.
Saryu Roy said that the BJP senior leaders should know that the senior superintendent of police, Dhanbad, had himself submitted a list of 46 criminal cases pending in court against Dhulu Mahto in the High Court in 2022. In four instances, Mahto has been convicted, he added.
