Ranchi, April 3: Police have seized Rs 36,56,900 from two districts before the Lok Sabha elections.

The team formed to prevent the transportation of illegal cash in Giridih district took significant action on Wednesday. The team seized Rs 30.91 lakh in cash from different vehicles in the Nimiaghat and Dhanwar police station areas.

On the other hand, on the instructions of Latehar Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan, an intensive vehicle checking campaign is being conducted in all the police station areas of the district. In the same sequence, a vehicle checking campaign was conducted on Wednesday near the Murgidih police camp of the Barwadih police station area of the district.

During vehicle checking by SI Ashok Singh and Magistrate Kamlesh Kumar Singh, the police recovered Rs 5 lakh 65 thousand in cash while checking the car (JH03AM-1077). The money has been recovered from Ravindra Kumar Singh, a resident of Aurangabad, Bihar, who was travelling in the car.

The investigation team informed police station in-charge Radheshyam Prasad. On receiving the information, station in-charge Radheshyam Singh reached the spot, and the money was counted in the presence of the flying squad team. Ravindra Singh, who was travelling in the car on the spot, could not show any document related to this amount.

Police station in-charge Shri Prasad said that the police team is continuously running a vehicle checking campaign regarding the model code of conduct. He said the vehicle owner, Ravindra Kumar Singh, is being interrogated. Singh said that he works as a railway contractor. However, the police were unsatisfied with his answer and confiscated the money.
