Jharkhand Elections: Transport department notifies rates for vehicles

Daltonganj, March 15: The state transport department has notified hire and detention rates for vehicles and other items to be requisitioned during the Lok Sabha election.

Under Section 160 of the Representation of the People’s Act, the district administration is the competent authority to requisition buses, trucks, and other public vessels for the general or assembly elections.

In Jharkhand, motor vehicles are requisitioned.

In states like Rajasthan, camels are requisitioned to transport polling parties and materials.

The hire and detention rates are per day.

It’s the bus whose hire and detention rates are high.

There is an overall rise of 3.20 paise per day per bus.

Hire rates for buses 

The hire and detention rates for the buses are based on the seats in the buses.

A 49-seat or 49-plus-seat bus has a daily Rs 3,530 hire and detention rate.

A 33- to 48-seat bus costs 2,989 rupees per day, a 23- to 32-seat bus costs 2,590 rupees per day, and a 14- to 22-seat bus costs Rs 1800.

Rs 50 for a cycle every day 

Cycles have a Rs 50 hire and detention rate per day, while auto rickshaws have a Rs 620 rate.

Jharkhand government’s deputy secretary of transport department, Manoj Kumar, issued this hire and detention rates on March 7.
