Daltonganj, February 6: The Daltonganj railway station under the Dhanbad division of the East Central Railway will soon have an FFU (fast food unit) at its platform number 1. The divisional railway manager has duly approved the FFU of the Dhanbad division of the East Central Railway.

The site of the FFU has been handed over to the MS Poonam Enterprises. Poonam Enterprises has authorised a Daltonganj resident to be this FFU’s manager.

Vikas Sharma, commercial traffic inspector of the railway here, said, “Work on the FFU is in full swing. We understand the FFU will be operational in a month or so.”

Amenities for passengers

Vikas Sharma said, “Amenities for the passengers are being upgraded and improved. A passenger will happily buy fast food like Chowmin, Idli, Dosa and other eatables.”

When asked if there would be any outlet for people to buy fast food without entering the railway platform, Vikas Sharma said, “Right now, it looks like a distant proposition.”

Disposal of leftovers

Regarding the drainage and disposal of the leftovers of the FFU, Vikas Sharma said, “There is a system for it. Disposal of waste and leftovers will not be any issue.”

Daltonganj railway station superintendent Umesh Kumar said, “Our railway administration is committed to providing safe food. This FFU is in the series of it. Here, quality has to be uncompromised.”

Umesh Kumar said, “When trains get late, passengers with children start looking for ready-to-eat food, and here, this FFU will be handy for such passengers.”

Ice cream parlour

Where there is FFU, there is bound to be an ice cream parlour or cold drinks shelf. At the Daltonganj railway station FFU, these facilities are also being looked for.

Again, no passenger or buyer here will fear being charged more than the price fixed for it, unlike outside eateries where charges for food are high.

The FFU is to have a bright kitchen, kitchenware and eco-friendly environment. Its site at the Daltonganj railway station is between the parcel office and the second-class general waiting room on platform number 1.
