Ranchi, Nov 21: Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Friday participated in the “Sardar @150 Padyatra” (Unity March – Ek Bharat, Aatmanirbhar Bharat), walking from the Raj Bhavan gate to the OTC Ground and encouraging participants with his presence.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Gangwar said the march was a tribute to India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and freedom fighter, Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose 150th birth anniversary is being commemorated across the nation.

He described the padyatra as a symbol of national unity and collective service, extending his best wishes to all participants. “Sardar Patel unified 562 princely states and laid the foundation of an integrated India through his unmatched foresight, courage and dedication. His message has always been that unity is our greatest strength,” he said.

Tribute to Sardar Patel’s Role in Nation-Building

Gangwar appreciated the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and MY Bharat for transforming the anniversary into a people-led movement. He said activities such as nationwide marches, cultural programmes, essay and quiz competitions, the ‘Ek Tha Sardar’ podcast and a national reel contest would strengthen patriotic values among the youth.

The Governor noted that the enthusiastic participation of thousands of students from NSS, NCC, Scouts & Guides, MY Bharat volunteers and educational institutions reflects the youth’s strong commitment to nation-building. “The future of our country depends on the unity, determination and character of our youth, who will play a crucial role in the vision of a developed India,” he said.

Call for Unity, Ethics and National Commitment

Gangwar also highlighted various national initiatives like ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ launched by the Prime Minister. He mentioned that Raj Bhavan Jharkhand is also contributing by organising State Foundation Day celebrations and inviting citizens from across India to promote cultural unity.

He urged youngsters not only to remember Sardar Patel’s ideals but also to adopt them in conduct, responsibilities and life values. “I appeal to all youth to actively contribute towards building the strong India envisioned by Sardar Patel,” he added.
