Jharkhand: Governor to inaugurate Hazaribagh Akshaya Patra Kitchen to feed 1 lakh Govt school students

Dhanbad, Jan 18: Governor CP Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the Akshaya Patra Foundation mega kitchen tomorrow at Demotand, Hazaribagh to feed one lakh government school students in the district daily.

Giving this information, Dr Santvana Sharan, one of the prominent members of the Foundation, said that the Governor would inaugurate the mega kitchen at 12 noon while former union minister and Hazaribagh MP Jayant Sinha will be the guest of honour.

MLAs Jai Prakash Bhai Patel, Amit Kumar Yadav, Umashankar Akela, Manish Jaiswal, Amba Prasad, Vinod Kumar will also grace this occasion as guests of honour.

Besides them, Airports  Authority of India Chairman Sanjeev Kumar, Central Coalfield Limited (CCL) chairman cum managing director B Veera Reddy, Small Industries  Development  Bank of India ( SIDBI) chairman cum managing director S Ramann and Hazaribagh Deputy Commissioner Nancy Sahay will be special guests.

Hazaribagh Superintendent of Police Arvind Kumar Singh and Bharatarshabha Dasa, national president and Trustee of Akshaya  Patra  Foundation will also grace the occasion.

Dr Sudhir Arya, a member of the Foundation said that this is the first Akshay Patra kitchen in Jharkhand and will feed one lakh students of 800 government schools in Hazaribagh district per day. Over 40 vehicles have been pressed in service to supply meals from  Demotand-based mega kitchen to each school timely.

“Launching an Akshaya Patra Kitchen has long and short-term benefits. In short term benefit, supply of cooked meals would save time of teachers in government schools who have to share time in preparation of mid-day meals. Now they would concentrate completely on teaching students. In the long term Akshaya Patra Kitch will help in bailing out anaemic girls by providing quality meals,” said Dr Santvana Sharan.

Dr Sharan said that before supplying the meal to schools, a lab would test the quality and freshness of items daily.

“Hazaribagh Akshaya Patra Kitchen is the 69th unit Foundation in the country. The 2nd kitchen in Jharkhand would be opened in Ramgarh district next year”, said Dr Sharan.
