Ranchi, Oct 27: The Jharkhand Tribal Welfare Department has begun an exercise to prepare the Tribal Development Digital Atlas for the tribal groups living in the State on the instructions of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

In the first phase of this work, a baseline survey of the Very Vulnerable Tribal Community (PVTG) will be conducted. Its preparation has been started under the guidance of Tribal Welfare Commissioner Ajaynath Jha.

For this, along with the critical gap survey on the current status of basic facilities of tribal villages and the standard target of development, details regarding education, skill capacity, employment, income, standard of living etc. in each village and hamlet will also be prepared.

Special focus on providing convenience

For this, the state government will implement the action plan by focusing on their social infrastructure, livelihood, and health so that the people of such tribal groups get permanent housing, sanitation, pure drinking water through the pipeline, electricity/solar electrification, pension, Ayushman card, benefits of PDS and e-shram, access to health centers, Anganwadi, education, availability of water for irrigation, all-weather road connectivity, motorbike ambulance/mobile health center facility, mobile and internet connectivity, forest produce based livelihood, improving livelihood by organizing self-help groups and unions under the State Livelihood Mission and other facilities.

Attempt to draw a line of development

The Tribal Digital Atlas will be prepared by the Welfare Department, under which in the first phase all the PVTG settlements will be assessed and mapped and a database will be prepared. Based on the atlas a comprehensive action plan for the implementation of major socio-economic infrastructure projects and livelihood-centric initiatives will be implemented in mission mode.

On the one hand, the most vulnerable tribal groups will be integrated into the social infrastructure projects, and there will be work to strengthen their traditional livelihood activities on the other. JTDS will work for this through gram cultivation and SHGs and cluster-based FPCs and women groups. Income will be increased by making their products accessible to the markets through the Sido Kanhu Forest Produce Federation. Priority will be given to ensuring food security (Postman Scheme) benefits and health services to ensure a reduction in the prevalence of anemia, especially sickle cell anemia and malnutrition in the group.

Country’s first free residential coaching for PVTG youth

On the initiative of the Chief Minister, free residential coaching for the placement of young men and women from eight highly sensitive tribal communities (PVTG) like Asur, Korba, Mal Paharia, Birhor, Sabar, Birjia, Saur Paharia has been started a few months ago. In the first phase, 150 youths will be prepared for various examinations. There are more than 60 girls in it. This is the country’s first residential coaching training program for the highly sensitive tribal community.
