Dhanbad, Feb 18: The Jharkhand State Health Services Association (JSHSA), the representative body of state government doctors, has initiated disciplinary action against Dr. Sidheswar Baskey for violating the organization’s rules and forming a separate association.
Dr. Thakur Mritunjay Kumar Singh, the JSHSA secretary, stated that, due to Dr. Baskey’s objectionable actions and statements, the association has removed him from all WhatsApp groups. A meeting of all office-bearers and executive members has been scheduled to discuss further action against him.
Background of the Dispute
Dr. Baskey, posted at the Ranchi Civil Surgeon’s office, had contested for the convener’s post in the JSHSA elections held on January 19 but lost. Following his defeat, he accused the election process of irregularities and made a direct complaint to the Health Minister. He also formed a separate body, the Jharkhand Medical Association, in opposition to JSHSA.

Dr. Thakur Mritunjay Singh emphasized that JSHSA is a democratic organization, with office-bearers elected through a fair and transparent process. He stated that Dr. Baskey broke the discipline by making serious allegations against Chief Election Commissioner Dr. Lal Majhi and other members of the election team.

Dr Thakur said despite attempts to resolve the issue amicably, Dr. Baskey continued defaming the organization and attempted to form a rival association. Consequently, JSHSA is considering suspending his primary membership.
“We tried to convince him but he continued defaming the organization and made an unsuccessful attempt to form a separate association. So, JSHSA may suspend his primary membership”, said Dr Thakur.
Attempts to Resolve the Dispute
Dr. Thakur further mentioned that the action against Dr. Baskey sends a clear message to other members with negative attitudes that JSHSA will not tolerate indiscipline under any circumstances.
Sources revealed that JSHSA President Dr. Bimlesh Singh personally spoke to Dr. Baskey, offering him the opportunity to work with the new body for the welfare of doctors and patients, despite his election defeat. However, Dr. Baskey refused to accept the offer.
Call for Strong Action from JSHSA Founder
Dr. Sumant Mishra, the founder of JSHSA and former Director-in-Chief of Health, who has served as president and secretary of the organization for several terms, expressed his concern over Dr. Baskey’s actions. He emphasized that such allegations had never been made by any defeated candidate in JSHSA elections and called for immediate action against him.
Dr. Mishra defended the election process, stating that Dr. Lal Majhi and his team, including Dr. Pankaj Kumar, Dr. RK Singh, and Dr. Vikash Kumar Gupta, conducted a free and fair election. He also reminded that JSHSA is a registered body and no one has the authority to form a parallel organization.
