Ranchi, Nov 2: On the instructions of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the Abua Bir Dishom campaign will be launched from November 6.

As part of this extensive campaign, for the first time in the state, individual, community, and community forest rights will be granted to the indigenous and forest-dependent people.

Notably, on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, more than 30,000 Gram Sabhas in the state participated and took an oath to dedicate themselves to protecting and organizing efforts for the preservation of water, forests, land and its resources.

Using the powers given by the Forest Rights Act, 2006, the Forest Rights Committee has been constituted/reconstituted at village, sub-division and district level from 03 October 2023 to 18 October 2023.

This committee will make recommendations as per rules on the claims of forest dependent people and communities for granting them forest rights pattas. Besides, for the successful implementation of Abua Bir Dishom Abhiyaan, a mobile application and website have also been prepared through which individual, community and community forest resource forest rights leases can be provided to the tribals and people dependent on forests.

The campaign to provide forest leases by the government to the people identified by the Forest Rights Committee will be conducted in the first phase till December 2023.

Abua Bir Dishom campaign will start with a state-level training cum workshop on 6th November. Under this, training will be given to Deputy Commissioners and Divisional Forest Officers of all the districts under Jharkhand state.
