Jamshedpur, Jan 16: The Jharkhand High Court today heard Public Interest Litigation (PIL) WPC/5110/2024, filed by Advocate Akash Sharma, regarding the deplorable condition of Hata-Tiring National Highway 220, particularly the 4-km stretch from Rasunchopa to the Tiring border.

The road, in disrepair since 2018, has caused daily accidents and severe disruptions, especially during the monsoon season.

Advocate Akhilesh Srivastava, representing the petitioner, presented evidence of 2.5 feet-deep potholes, emphasizing the urgent need for repairs.

The Chief Justice admitted the PIL and issued notices to the Centre, the Jharkhand government, and the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).

Advocate Akash Sharma stated, “Repairing this stretch of the highway will ensure safe and smooth transportation for people across Odisha, West Bengal, and Jharkhand, while also promoting the region’s socio-economic development.”
