Jharkhand HC vacation bench disposes of 853 cases in 18 days

Ranchi, June 4: The Jharkhand High Court’s vacation bench headed by Justice Rongon Mukhopadhyay disposed of 853 cases between May 18 and June 4, reflecting a significant judicial workload during the court’s summer recess.

According to official figures, a total of 891 cases were listed before Court No. 4 during the vacation period, with 853 cases being disposed of.

Bail Matters Dominate Disposals

Regular bail (B.A.) cases constituted the largest share of disposals. The court disposed of 649 bail-related matters, including 625 main cases and 24 miscellaneous cases.

Anticipatory bail applications (A.B.A.) formed the second-largest category, with 169 cases disposed of during the period.

  • 2 Criminal Revisions
  • 1 CMP

On May 26, the bench heard 224 cases, while 180 matters were listed on June 2 and 152 on June 4.

Vacation Bench Ensures Continuity of Judicial Work

The disposal figures highlight the continued functioning of the High Court during the summer vacation, particularly in urgent criminal matters such as bail applications, anticipatory bail pleas and criminal appeals.

The vacation bench system is aimed at ensuring that urgent cases receive judicial attention even when regular court proceedings remain suspended during recess.
