Dhanbad, July 9: In a major administrative reshuffle within the Jharkhand Health Department, the state government has demoted several senior medical officers, including Director-in-Chief (DIC) Dr. CK Shahi and five civil surgeons (CS).

At the same time, nine senior medical officers have been promoted, with some being reinstated as civil surgeons.

According to the reshuffle notification issued by Ajay Kumar Singh, Under Secretary of the State Government, a total of 58 medical officers have been transferred.

Dr. CK Shahi, one of the senior-most officers from the 1988 batch, who was given additional charge as Director-in-Chief in March 2024, has now been demoted to Regional Deputy Director, Santhal Pargana Division, Dumka.

Dr. Sidharth Sanyal has been appointed as the new Director-in-Chief of Health.

Along with Dr. Shahi, five other civil surgeons have also faced demotion. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Civil Surgeon of Seraikela, has been demoted to Additional Chief Medical Officer (ACMO), Jamshedpur. Dr. Bachha Singh, Civil Surgeon of Dumka, is now ACMO Deoghar. Dr. Praveen Kumar Santhalia, Civil Surgeon of Sahibganj, has been posted as District Vector-Borne Disease Officer in Palamu. Dr. Naval Singh, Civil Surgeon of Gumla, has been demoted to ACMO Ramgarh.

Nine Senior Officers Promoted

In contrast, nine senior medical officers have been promoted, with many reassigned as civil surgeons. Dr. Sidharth Sanyal (1988 batch), who served as Regional Deputy Director, North Chhotanagpur Division, Hazaribagh, has now been elevated to Director-in-Chief, Health.

Other key promotions include Dr. Kamlesh Prasad, Medical Officer of Giridih, who has been appointed Civil Surgeon of Dumka; and Dr. Alok Vishwakarma (1990 batch), previously Deputy Superintendent at Jamtara Sadar Hospital, who has returned as Civil Surgeon of Dhanbad. Dr. Vishwakarma earlier held the same position in 2023.

Fresh Appointments Across Districts

Dr. Shambhu Choudhary, Medical Officer of Lohardagga, has been promoted as Civil Surgeon of Gumla. In Deoghar, RCH Officer Dr. Yugal Kishore Choudhary (1988 batch) has been appointed as Civil Surgeon. Dr. Sheikh Zafarullah, DTO Bokaro, is now Civil Surgeon of Giridih. Dr. Anil Kumar Srivastava, Medical Officer at Palamu Sadar Hospital, has been appointed Civil Surgeon in the same district.

Further, Dr. SK Mishra, RCH Officer in Sahibganj, has been made Civil Surgeon of Pakur, while Dr. Subhash Chandra Sharma, CHC in-charge at Godda, has been elevated as Civil Surgeon of Godda.

27 Promoted as Deputy Superintendents

In addition to these key changes, 27 other senior medical officers have been promoted to the post of Deputy Superintendent in various districts.
