Jharkhand High Court to set up extension counter in Dhanbad

Dhanbad, May 18: An extension Counter of the Jharkhand High Court (HC) will be set up at Dhanbad soon for the E-filing of cases.

Principal District and Session Judge of Dhanbad Ram Sharma while talking with media persons on Saturday afternoon informed about the steps taken for the modernization of the court and said that the Jharkhand High Court’s extension counter will begin functioning soon in Dhanbad.

“Now lawyers can be able to file applications in the High Court from here and argue their cases through the Extension Court,” said Ram Sharma.

The Principal District and Session Judge said that an E-service centre has been opened on the court premises. Under E-Court Services all files of court cases are being digitalized. All orders and decisions of the court are uploaded on the website so that plaintiffs and lawyers can get the latest information on their cases and know their status.

On the directive of Jharkhand High Court judge Justice R Mukhopadhyay, the Ministry of Energy, Jharkhand government, has equipped the Civil Court building with a centralized AC system. Altogether 169 AC machines have been installed.

Hi-tech courtroom

“Each courtroom has been equipped with advanced technology so that prisoners can be produced through video conferencing from jail and appear as witnesses during the trial. The lift system has been restored and a wheelchair facility has been provided for disabled persons and old age lawyers of the court,” said Ram Sharma.

Court security tightened

The Principal District and Session Judge said that security has also been tightened on court premises. From a security point of view, only one gate of the civil court has been opened. Security personnel with advanced technology have been deployed at the gate and only after a proper check-up, any person is allowed to enter.

Solar power powers Dhanbad court

Ram Sharma informed media persons that the Dhanbad Court has become the third district in Jharkhand that functions completely on the supply of solar power.  Khunti and Ramgarh are two other district courts which function on solar power supply. “A system is being developed to supply solar power in entire premises of the court”, said the Principal District and Session Judge.
