Jharkhand: IIT ISM Dhanbad, GIAN to hold a workshop on mining

Dhanbad, Feb 7: IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad, in collaboration with Grassroots Innovation Augmentation Network (GIAN), Ahmedabad, Gujarat, will organize a workshop on ‘Mining the Mind’ tomorrow.

Padmashree Prof Anil Gupta of IIM Ahmedabad will conduct the workshop.

Prof Mrinalini Pandey, the workshop coordinator giving this information, said that one of the workshop’s primary goals is to generate creative and novel ideas.

Participants will engage in brainstorming sessions, ideation exercises, and collaborative activities to generate a pool of innovative concepts.

“The workshops intend to teach and explore the various aspects of grassroots innovation to raise awareness and emphasize the underlying importance of grassroots innovation in society among the student community of the region,” said Prof Pandey.

The workshop is part of a series of workshops undertaken under Jharkhand, the “HBNCRIIA Awards” program by GIAN with the support of Amazon India.

HBNCRIIA Awards is instituted to recognise and encourage grassroots innovation. The programme will select 15 promising and socially relevant innovations from across India for recognition at the national level.

India’s oldest incubator

Prof Pandey said GIAN is one of India’s oldest incubators for grassroots innovations. Since 1997, it has acquired deep expertise and experience in executing the complete lifecycle of promoting grassroots innovations, working with the ecosystem’s stakeholders.

National Innovation Foundation

It collaborates with the National Innovation Foundation, SRISTI, and Honeybee Network. It is guided by eminent professor Dr Anil Gupta of IIM-Ahmedabad, a founder member of organisations like the National Innovation Foundation, SRISTI, and Honeybee Network and led by Dr Anamika Dey, CEO of GIAN.
