Jamshedpur, Jan 29: Hundreds of JMM supporters on Monday blocked NH-33 at Dimna Chowk, protesting against the Enforcement Directorate’s move to grill Chief Minister Hemant Soren during his sojourn in New Delhi in connection to a land scam case in which he is a suspect.

After the blockade at the Dimna Chowk, which is the entry point to the steel city, a large number of vehicles, mostly heavy vehicles had to remain stranded on either side of the point.

Moreover, the blockade point being on the NH-33 connecting Calcutta with Ranchi via Jamshedpur and Chandil large number of cars and buses have been stuck, giving the local police to face a challenging time.

As the frenzied JMM supporters are adamant about their stand while creating a pressure tactic against the ED and the Central government, the police are doing little to clear the blockade except for trying to convince the protestors which include a large number of women.

Ulidih Thana OC, under whose jurisdiction Dimna Chowk falls confirmed about the disruption of vehicular movement on the NH-33 due to the blockade at Dimna Chowk for the past three hours.

“We are trying to clear the blockade by convincing the protestors. The blockade will be lifted soon, ” the OC said while talking to The Jharkhand Story.
