Jamshedpur, Jan 13: In a motivating address at XLRI Jamshedpur, Kiran Bedi, the first woman IPS officer and former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, encouraged students to step out of their comfort zones for success.

Reflecting on her impactful tenure in Tihar Jail, Bedi emphasized education and self-reliance in transforming prisoners’ lives. She shared her pioneering initiative of teaching inmates to read and write, personally ensuring continuity in learning.

Bedi underscored the values of concentration, creativity, discipline and integrity, attributing her success to these principles. Rooted in Chandigarh, she highlighted the role of a disciplined upbringing in shaping her journey.

The event, inaugurated with a lamp lighting ceremony, marked the commencement of Maxi Fair 2024 at XLRI, where Bedi served as the esteemed chief guest.

Bedi expounded on the concept of integrity, defining it as a blend of kindness, respect, trustworthiness, responsibility and helpfulness. Educated at a convent school in Amritsar, she credited her disciplined upbringing for shaping her success.

Encouraging students to venture beyond comfort zones, Bedi positioned it as a crucial step towards realizing aspirations.
