Dr Tigga has been serving the department since 2008 and discharging almost all responsibilities of post-mortem and medical-legal.

Following the retirement of Dr (Prof) AK Thakur of ENT and Dr (Prof) B C Banerjee of the pathology department on December 30, the principal has appointed assistant Prof Dr Rajkumar Prasad as HoD pathology.

In the ENT department, senior resident Dr Vijaya Bala Murmu took charge from Dr AK Thakur on December 30. But the principal said assistant professor, Dr Jayant Chakraborty, who has come from the Dumka Medical College, would be head of the ENT department.

Interestingly, the ENT department has professor rank teacher Dr ( Prof) Ashutosh Kumar (working on a contract basis), but he has been overlooked for the post of HoD. A similar situation appeared in the microbiology department last year. Senior resident Dr Sujit Tiwary was HoD. But when Dr (Professor) VK Singh joined on contract basis, he was made HoD, though financial power rested with Dr Tiwary,

A senior faculty member of SNMMCH said that Dr Ashutosh can’t be given charge of HoD as he belongs to Dumka Medical College and has been on deputation here.
