Ranchi, March 12: Veteran MLA Saryu Roy has questioned the appointment of Dr CK Sahi as the director-in-chief of health services by Health Minister Banna Gupta without obtaining consent from Chief Minister Champai Soren.
In his post on social media platform X (Twitter) to Chief Minister Champai Soren on Tuesday evening, Jamshedpur ( East) MLA Saryu Roy wrote that doctor Saheb, who is facing departmental charges, has been made director in-chief of health services.
“Health minister (Banna Gupta) sacked former director in-chief ( Dr Birendra Kumar Singh) and appointed Doctor Saheb ( Dr CK Sahi) director in chief at his level,” he wrote in his post.
Health Minister has done wrong: MLA
Saryu Roy also pointed out to the chief minister that what the health minister had done was wrong. “Only the chief minister can appoint, and not a minister, can appoint a departmental secretary and director in-chief,” he has pointed out.
The health department on March 10 appointed Dr CK Sahi ( additional chief medical officer (ACMO) of Deoghar) as the new director-in-chief of the state’s health services in place of Dr Birendra Kumar Singh.
Dr CK Sahi is third in seniority list
In the seniority list of state medical officers released by the health department, Dr CK Sahi is third after Ranjan Sinha ( civil surgeon Deoghar) and Dr Sidharth Sanyal ( regional deputy director of health of North Chhotanagpur Division, Hazaribagh).
The Jamshedpur MLA, in a social media post, also questioned the silence of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) over the mass transfer of doctors by the health department.
