Jharkhand murder case: Accused walks to Daltonganj jail after 24-hr police remand ends

Murder accused Dilip Tiwary being escorted on foot to Daltonganj Central Jail after the completion of his 24-hour police remand on June 14.

Daltonganj, June 15: An undertrial accused in a high-profile murder case was made to walk to the Central Jail in Daltonganj after his 24-hour police remand ended on Sunday, June 14.

The accused, Dilip Tiwary, was seen walking through the town under police escort, drawing the attention of scores of passersby and residents. The unusual sight prompted discussions among onlookers, many of whom observed his calm and composed demeanor during the nearly 20-minute walk.

Accused Appeared Unfazed During Walk to Jail

According to sources, the accused showed no visible signs of guilt or discomfort as he walked back to jail. Some bystanders remarked that he appeared unusually relaxed despite facing serious criminal charges.

Police sources said the journey along the town’s main road lasted around 20 minutes. Throughout the walk, the accused appeared indifferent to the curious glances of pedestrians and motorists.

Police Confirm End of 24-Hour Remand

SDPO Sadar Rajesh Yadav confirmed that the accused was taken back to jail on foot after the completion of his police remand.

“The undertrial accused in a murder case, Dilip Tiwary, was taken on foot after his police remand ended today,” said SDPO Sadar Rajesh Yadav.

The officer declined to provide further details, noting that the accused remains in judicial custody and had been taken out only for a 24-hour police remand.

Police officials also pointed out that when an accused is brought on police remand from judicial custody, the process is conducted with caution and within legal safeguards.

Linked to Realtor Vineet Tiwary Murder Case

Dilip Tiwary is one of the accused in the kidnapping and murder of realtor Vineet Tiwary. The victim’s body was recovered near NH-75 at Jorkat during the last week of April.

Meanwhile, police are continuing efforts to trace the main accused, Pradeep Tiwary alias Mahakaal, who is believed to be absconding.

Investigators said the search for Mahakaal remains a priority in the ongoing probe into the realtor’s murder.
