Dhanbad, Jan. 5: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today arrested Dhanbad civil surgeon (CS) office clerk Umesh Prasad while taking a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a candidate against disability certificate.

As per the allegation, Umesh Prasad had been demanding Rs 5,000 for disability certificate from a genuine candidate who required it for the job.  When Umesh Prasad did not relent in less than Rs 4000, the candidate lodged a complaint to the ACB office.

Getting confirmation of the bribe case, the ACB set up a team under Inspector Jitendra Kumar Singh to arrest Umesh Prasad red-handed in office. On Friday afternoon, as pre-planned, ACB officials sent the candidate with bribe money to the civil surgeon’s office for Umesh Prasad.

As the candidate gave money to Umesh Prasad in the chamber, ACB sleuths caught him red-handed.  After the arrest, another team of ACB searched Umesh Prasad’s house.   The team brought Umesh Prasad to the ACB office and began interrogation.

A retired staff of the Dhanbad Civil Surgeon Office said that a corruption game in the name of medical certificates has been played in the Dhanbad Civil Surgeon Office for more than 10 years.  Names of many staff will be surfaced in the interrogation of Umesh Prasad.
