Dhanbad, April 16: The All India Fertilizer Corporation of India VSS Employees Association has welcomed the announcement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to cover elderly people above 70 years under Ayushman health insurance.

The Association, hailing the Prime Minister’s announcement, sent a memorandum to the PMO on Tuesday, saying that the BJP’s election manifesto announcement has given elderly people a new lease of life.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on April 14, while releasing the BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’  (Election Manifesto), announced that he would give the  Aayushman health scheme (free treatment facilities of Rs 5 lakh) to those above 70 years old in his third tenure after the election.

AI FCIVSS Employees Association president Sardar Sewa Singh, in his memorandum to the PMO, said that Modi’s announcement is most welcomed. However, the Modi government still needs to address some points that are in the interest of elderly people, he added.

Sardar Sewa Singh said rail facilities for elderly people should be again restored.   A pension of Rs 1000 under EPS 95 is not enough for elderly people to survive, and it must be revised. “Your assurance to consider payment of Rs 7500 must be implemented,” said Sardar Sewa Singh.
