Jamshedpur, April 2: In a significant announcement, the Central Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (CGPC) has resolved the controversy surrounding the date of the Baisakhi festival.

According to the CGPC, Baisakhi, also known as Khalsa Creation Day, will be celebrated across all Gurudwaras in Kolhan on Saturday, April 13th.

The decision came after discussions with officials from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar, regarding Baisakhi and referencing the Nanakshahi calendar.

All Gurudwara committees duly informed

Sardar Bhagwan Singh, the head of the committee, along with General Secretary Amarjeet Singh, confirmed the date during a meeting at the CGPC office on Tuesday. They assured that Baisakhi would be observed on the 13th of April without any ambiguity.

Sardar Bhagwan Singh, along with the Sangat and Gurudwara committees of Kolhan, expressed their enthusiasm to celebrate Baisakhi with great fervour and religious devotion.

General Secretaries Amarjeet Singh and Gurcharan Singh Billa informed that all Gurudwara committees had been duly informed about the confirmed date of Baisakhi.

Preparations underway in Gurudwaras for grand celebration

Preparations for the festive occasion have already commenced in Gurudwaras across Sakchi, Mango, Sonari, Tuiladungari, Jugsalai, and Kitadih. The committees are gearing up to organize various events and programs to mark the auspicious day.

Baisakhi holds immense significance for the Sikh community, who celebrate it as New Year and Khalsa Creation Day. Gurudwaras are adorned with decorations, and special programs like Sabad-Kirtan are organized.

The day is observed with great enthusiasm, with Sikhs congregating at Gurudwaras to participate in Kirtan and other religious activities. Kadha Prasad is distributed among the Sangat, and Atut Langar (community kitchen) is served as part of the celebrations.
