Jharkhand News: Dhanbad railway division is on top in freight loading, earning in country

Dhanbad, June 7: The Dhanbad Railway Division of East Central Railway (ECR) zone continued on the number one position among 257 rail divisions of the country in freight loading and earnings in the first two months of April and May of 2024-25 financial year.

Giving this information to media persons, Dhanbad Railway Divisional Manager (DRM) Kamal Kishore Sinha said that like previous financial years, in the current financial year too, the Division made records in freight loading and earnings.

Chakradharpur Rail Division gets 4th position

In the first two months of the current financial year (April –May), Dhanbad Division set a record of 32.32 MT freight loading leaving Bilaspur Rail Division (31.28 MT) of South East Central Railway, Khurda Road Division (26.24 MT) of East Cost Railway zone and Chakradharpur Rail Division (25.91 MT) of South Eastern Railway on second, third and fourth places respectively.

DRM Kamal Kishore Sinha said that the Dhanbad Rail Division is also top in the country with the highest earning of Rs 4256.  95 crores in two months (April- May 2024) from freight. As per the official figure, Bilaspur Division is in the second spot earning Rs 3811. 32 crores during the same period.

Dhanbad Division is the highest revenue earner

Khurda Road Division is in 3rd position earning Rs 2384. 95 crores and Chakradharpur Division is in 4th position with earning Rs 2298. 28 crores from freight. Dhanbad Division also recorded a footfall of 48.86 lakh passengers in the division in two months ( April –May) of 2024-25 financial years and earned Rs 82.59 crores from it.

“For the facilities of passengers, Dhanbad Division has set up One Shop One Product (OSOP) stalls at 11 stations, including Dhanbad station, Koderma, Parasnath, Gomoh, Barkakana, Tori, Latehar, Daltonganj, Renukoot, Chopan and Sigrauli. Shops are handicraft products, pottery, local sweets, millet-based namkin and other products. Besides it, OSOP trolly has been allotted at 15 stations,” said the DRM.
