Jamshedpur, April 8: Over 25 male and female candidates including a 75-year-old man joined the 3rd batch of online Telugu language class being imparted by Jharkhand Telugu Sena (JTS) under the aegis of All India Telugu Community Welfare Association (AITCWA) free of cost.
Altogether 28 candidates from across Jharkhand and one female candidate from Odisha, Hyderabad and Chennai have attended the online 3rd batch of Telugu class which commenced today.
Madam Sridevi, a school teacher in Ranchi, has been teaching the rudiments of the Telugu language since it started in 2021.
Many candidates of the first two batches, who successfully cleared their one-year course, have now read and written Telugu.
In an attempt to promote the Telugu language and culture in non-Telugu states of the country and abroad, a social organization of the community had decided to launch online classes to teach rudimentary Telugu language free of cost from January 16, 2021, a top functionary of the organization said.

Initiative launched to preserve Telugu language and culture
The objective behind it is to promote the language and preserve culture among Telugu people residing in non-Telugu States of the country and abroad and motivate them to continue to be in touch with “Mathru Bhasha” (Mother Tongue), PSN Murty, President of AITCWA, said.
Murty, a resident of Nagpur, Maharashtra, said he had found that the majority of Telugu children living in non-Telugu states and abroad have been distanced from their rich culture and language, as it is not taught in schools.
Over 500 candidates in the age group of 5 to 35 years had enrolled for the proposed classes across the country and abroad including USA, Germany, UAE while many others have shown keen interest in joining depending on the suitability of timing of classes, particularly those in service.
TCWA plans to launch offline classes next year
Murty said TCWA was also contemplating to commence offline classes from March next year, depending on the response.
TCWA, has been engaged in other welfare activities in about 18 States and 24 countries abroad since its inception four years ago.
Jharkhand Convenor of JTS, G Gopal Krishna said the objective of JTS is to ensure all members of the community irrespective of age and gender must speak, read and write Telugu.
JTS has been providing study materials in PDF format to the candidates while appealing to members of the community in particular and Telugu people, in general, to take advantage of the facility.
Chief Coordinator of online Telugu classes RVS Srinivas Guna, Working President AITCWA P T Sarma, Bhavani Sadhu, Vice-President AITCWA, Bala Jyoti greeted the students of the 3rd batch.
