Dhanbad, March 20: Different batches of techies of IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad showcased their artistic creativity and innovation in the Annual Art Gallery held at Penman Quadrangle on Tuesday evening.
Fine Art Club
The event was organised by the institution’s Fine Art Club, in which 50 artworks (paintings) of the club’s students were displayed.
IIT ISM Director Prof JK Pattanayak inaugurated the event and highly appreciated the paintings of students.
Prof Rajni Singh, Dean Corporate Communications, Prabodh Pandey, Registrar and other faculty members were also present on the occasion.
Artistic creativity
The organiser said the aim of organising the event was to nurture the artistic creativity of students.
Fine Art Club coordinator Jeet Rathod, a B Tech 3rd year engineering physics student of the institution, said that the theme for the gallery this year is ‘All Generation of Bollywood Movies and Actors’.

The paintings were based on movies from the silent era to the sound era, golden age, and present era. Jeet added that the institute’s alumni also contributed many of the paintings for the exhibition.
Coordinator of ArtFreaks
“The focus of the gallery is primarily classical movies across all languages,” said Kshitiz Brahmane, a B Tech Mechanical Engineering 3rd year student at the institution. Kshitiz is also another coordinator of ArtFreaks.
At ArtFreaks, the members guide and demonstrate to students how to pursue and flourish in different art and craft forms through various workshops.
“At ArtFreaks, we have common goals, and we utilize our imagination to create multiple artworks throughout the year,” said Supreeth, a club member. He added that they work together on different projects.
“Apart from this, the members of the club also contribute enormously to give the campus a completely transformed look during any major event held at the campus,” said Supreeth.
