Locals Spot the Crime and Intervene

As some local residents spotted the man entering the building premises with the girl, they suspected foul play, as the man was a stranger in the locality.

Soon after, the locals mobilised support and climbed on the building’s rooftop after making necessary queries from the occupants of the said building. On reaching the rooftop, they found the man molesting the girl.

At the sight of the inquisitive neighbours, the man tried to flee but was caught by the people and eventually thrashed squarely. By that time, a huge crowd had gathered outside the building with the accused still in the clutch of the frenzied people.

Police Intervention and Public Outrage

A police party arrived in the scene, but the people were so agitated that they thwarted the cops by resorting to stone-pelting. But later, a greater number of policemen reached there again and managed to rescue the accused from the clutches of the people.

The inquisitive residents wanted to know whether the accused was arrested or not, given his status as jail warder. The police had dropped the accused at his house instead of arresting him.

OC Sitaramdera Thana said that the accused Sanjay Kumar Singh has been forwarded to judicial custody on Wednesday, and the girl has been sent to the MGM Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) for a medical examination.
