Jamshedpur, Dec 30: Ahead of New Year celebrations, the district administration and police have stepped up security arrangements across Jamshedpur to ensure a safe and orderly welcome to 2026.

City SP Kumar Shivashish said strict action would be taken against any violation of the law, and no laxity would be tolerated during the festivities.

As part of the special security plan, 32 checking points have been set up at key locations in the city, where joint teams of police and traffic personnel will remain deployed.

The teams will keep a close watch on rash driving, drunken driving, riding without helmets, triple riding and other illegal activities.

The checking drive will be carried out on December 31 from 9 pm to 2 am, and again on January 1 from 12 noon to 5 pm.

The City SP said that anyone found violating rules during the New Year celebrations would face immediate legal action.

Special anti-drunk driving and anti-rash driving campaigns are being conducted by the traffic police to prevent road accidents.

Simultaneously, inspections of hotels and lodges across the city are underway to curb any illegal activities.

Senior police officers at the DSP level have reviewed security arrangements at major crowd-pulling locations such as Jubilee Park, P&M Mall, Modi Park and Dimna Lake, where safety measures have been further strengthened.

To maintain vigilance in crowded areas, police personnel in plain clothes will also be deployed to keep an eye on incidents of eve-teasing, misbehaviour, drug consumption and other suspicious activities.

In case of any emergency, citizens have been advised to dial 112.

Extending advance New Year greetings to the residents, City SP Kumar Shivashish appealed to people to follow traffic and safety rules, remain alert and celebrate the New Year in a peaceful and harmonious manner.
